Dreaming in… Yellow

IMG_1018.JPG

February in New England is a very grey time of year. Our surroundings take on a romantic hue of grey and green and blue that almost call to you to tell you this month is made for rest. By the time February is over, I am ready for spring. This year I have been dreaming in the color….

Yellow.

Yellow is one of the oldest colors in history and is known to represent a warm mood associated with the sun, happiness, and optimism. In years past I have always veered away from yellow. Through my many moves, (and rentals), and obsession with looking at houses, I have seen many rooms painted a sort of creamy yellow color that you just want to scream, WHY! This is not the yellow I am dreaming of… its more of a lemon yellow!

A bright vibrant yellow that is bold, apparent, and brings warmth and optimism to any space.

Lemon yellow, a pop of color!

This bedroom exudes happiness, comfort, and warmth. Pop art and decor, as discussed on essentialhome.eu

When working through the process of rebranding the company, I had man internal struggles to conquer. The name, the brand, where am I headed as a designer, where am I heading as an artist, what products will we make, what products will we carry? It was not until recently when I started dreaming about yellow, (and literally I mean I dream of spaces, rooms, patterns!), that I came to the idea of a lemon. Lemons are happy, cleansing, optimistic, bright, and beautiful. It wasnt an obvious choice until I finished the sketch.

Aside from our design projects, the Kathryn Hunt Studio will be working to bring fresh and bright patterns in the form of textiles as well as home products that have been vetted and meet our standards of quality, optimism, and beautiful design.
